How to configure pfSense® to use Lumiun DNS with DNS53 protocol
Configuring to use Lumiun DNS with DNS53 protocol
This configuration will make your router forward DNS requests using the traditional DNS protocol on port 53, also known as DNS53 or Do53.
For this configuration, it is important that you have a fixed public IPv4 address or a hostname configured through Dynamic DNS (DDNS).
If you have a fixed public IPv6 address, it is possible to link the prefix to maintain IPv6 control as well.
If you do not have a fixed public IP address, contact us.
If you have a public IP address, you can check it by clicking here. The address displayed will be your public IP.
Now, access the Lumiun DNS control panel, click on Sites, Settings, and link your fixed public IP address OR your hostname.
Check the examples below. Replace the hostname “example.ddns.net” with your hostname or the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses with your fixed public IP addresses.
Hostname | Fixed public IPv4 and IPv6 |
---|---|
Once the link is made, let's configure your router.
Access the management interface of your router, or the DNS settings of your server or other device.
Site the DNS settings, remove the current DNS server addresses, and enter the following DNS server addresses: 76.223.1.120 and 13.248.132.249. If you use IPv6 on the network, also link the addresses 2600:9000:a418:ffdb:d5fc:e6dc:e22a:ceaf and 2600:9000:a51c:7f39:2f9c:3051:ed89:84f0.
Done! Now you can view the Reports on your Lumiun DNS panel and also set the rules of the Policy.
