How long does it take for a block or unblock to take effect in Lumiun DNS?

Understand how changes are applied and what can influence user perception.

Neste artigo, explicamos o comportamento após ajustar bloqueios, liberações ou filtros no Lumiun DNS e como validar as alterações no dia a dia.

When blocking or allowing a domain, or enabling/disabling a Lumiun DNS filter, the new configuration takes effect in DNS responses within 3 minutes. This applies to new queries made after the change.

If a domain has been resolved before, browser, operating system, application, or network equipment caches may retain the old response until the TTL expires, making it appear that the rule has not yet taken effect.

What influences the visibility of change

  • Browser cache.

  • Operating system cache and apps that perform their own resolution.

  • Network cache on routers, firewalls, proxies, or local resolvers.

  • TTL previously obtained for the domain.

How to accelerate the perception of change

  • Open an incognito/private tab and try again.

  • Clear your browser cache and reload (Ctrl/Cmd + F5).

  • Close and reopen the application (when testing is not via a browser).
